Will butter work instead of margarine?
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try it with butter. I will let you know

ReplyDeleteButter works fine. Making my second one now. Just added coconut to mine. Hope it comes out ok.
ReplyDeleteWould buttermilk work in place of the milk?
ReplyDeleteI used softened butter, whole milk, organic sugar, freshly ground whole wheat white flour and the other ingredients listed. I blended with my hand mixer. It took 65 minutes to acquire a light brown top. Definitely not my grandmothers egg custard pie. It has a little more of an egg texture instead of a creamy custard texture. It tasted OK. Perhaps my substitutions didn't help.
